Meet Isabel
I believe therapy is about more than managing symptoms. It’s an opportunity to better understand yourself, the experiences that have shaped you, and the patterns that influence how you move through the world.
I’m Isabel Stovsky, a Cleveland-based psychotherapist working with adults and adolescents navigating anxiety, trauma, relationships, identity, parenthood, and major life transitions.
Many of the people I work with are thoughtful, capable, and accustomed to managing a lot on their own. They may appear to be doing well while privately feeling anxious, overwhelmed, disconnected, or stuck in patterns they don’t fully understand. Others come to therapy during a period of significant change—becoming a parent, navigating a relationship, experiencing loss, changing careers, or simply realizing that the ways they’ve learned to cope are no longer working as well as they once did.
My Approach
Therapy should feel like a place where you can be curious about yourself without judgment.
My approach is warm, collaborative, and relational. I’m interested not only in what you’re experiencing now, but in understanding the experiences, relationships, and beliefs that may have shaped how you respond to yourself and others.
Our work might involve identifying patterns, developing new ways of coping, strengthening your relationship with yourself and the people around you, or processing experiences from the past that continue to have an impact today.
I am trained in EMDR and integrate trauma-informed approaches into my work when appropriate. I also have specialized training in perinatal mental health and a particular passion for supporting individuals through pregnancy, postpartum, parenthood, and the identity shifts that can accompany these transitions.

Professional Experience
My clinical experience spans community mental health and private practice, where I have worked with individuals navigating a wide range of emotional, relational, and life challenges.
Prior to entering the mental health field professionally, I taught yoga and worked in K–12 education, including Montessori, public, and private school settings. These experiences continue to inform my approach to supporting individuals, particularly my emphasis on mindfulness, the mind-body connection, and understanding individuals within the context of their lives and relationships.
Who I Work With
My practice includes adults and adolescents experiencing anxiety, trauma, relationship concerns, identity changes, and major life transitions.
I have particular areas of focus in perinatal and maternal mental health, EMDR and trauma therapy, anxiety and life transitions, and men’s mental health.
Whether you’re coming to therapy because something feels clearly wrong or because life looks good on paper but doesn’t quite feel the way you expected it to, you don’t need to have everything figured out before you begin.
A Little About Me
I'm a Cleveland native, mom, yoga teacher, former competitive athlete and coach—and someone who genuinely values the connection between our emotional and physical experiences.
I played field hockey and lacrosse throughout high school and at Bates College, where I was also a member of the equestrian team. I later coached field hockey and lacrosse at the middle- and high-school levels.
My background in athletics and yoga has shaped the way I think about mindfulness, resilience, nervous-system awareness, and our relationships with our bodies. It's also part of what led me to develop Mindful Athlete, my mindfulness and mental wellness workshop for female athletes.
These days, my relationship with movement is much less about competition and much more about longevity, feeling good, and keeping up with my kids.
